Bangladesh: A Brief Report
Introduction:
Bangladesh is an independent country in South Asia which gained independence from Pakistan in 1971 through the liberation war. The area of the country is about 1,47,570 square kilometers and the population is about 17 crores. Bangladesh is known for its rich culture, agricultural economy, and natural beauty. The capital is Dhaka and the main language is Bengali.
Geographical Location and Climate:
Bangladesh shares borders with India and Myanmar and lies the Bay of Bengal to its south. Its geographical location makes it a riverine country. Padma, Meghna and Yamuna rivers are the main rivers of the country. The climate is warm and humid, the agricultural production here is good due to monsoon rains.
History:
The history of Bangladesh is thousands of years old. In ancient times this region was a part of Bengal, Gaura and Pundra kingdoms. In the Middle Ages it came under Muslim rule, and spent a long time under British colonial rule. After the partition of India in 1947, East Bengal became part of Pakistan, which later gained independence in 1971 under the leadership of Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujibur Rahman.
Economy:
Although the economy of Bangladesh is based on agriculture, it is currently developing rapidly due to garment industry, information technology, remittance and infrastructure development.
